From This Moment On

PJ Trebelhorn turns in one of my favorite lesbian romances from 2010 with From This Moment On. Three years ago a drunk driver changed Devon Conway’s life forever by causing an accident that took Conway’s partner, Joanne Riley, and their unborn child, away from her forever. Emotionally raw and thinking she couldn’t stand to see Jo’s twin sister, Christine, not to mention being reminded of what Devon herself did, she runs away and only now has the courage to return home.

After a night out at the local lesbian bar, which ends in a one-night stand and the words, “One night is all I can offer … I’m emotionally unavailable,” Devon decides it’s time to let her “adopted” sister, Rhonda, know she is back in town. While she knows Rhonda will be glad to see her, Devon also knows Rhonda’s partner, Christine, won’t be.

Starting up her own business, Devon decides it’s time to find a place of her own instead of continuing to stay with Rhonda’s mother. Devon answers an ad about an apartment for rent, not knowing that the apartment is owned by Katherine Hunter, a woman she “rescued” from the bar the previous night.

As Devon and Katherine become friends, Devon learns to deal with her past, even though she won’t disclose to anyone other than Sheila the event that caused her to leave her the town where she and Joanne were building their life together. From This Moment On is definitely a one-sitting read. Trebelhorn’s characters are so real that readers will find themselves caught up in the storyline and asking themselves  if love is possible from this moment on?
