ABOUT ME

Born a Texan, raised a mid-westerner and baptized a Southerner, Patricia, who would rather be called Patty, was graduated with honors from what is now called West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, which is where she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism. Although she would have preferred to grow up living in one town, Patty now realizes moving all over the country every few years afforded her a vast array of experiences and a laundry list of characters.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in print journalism and communications, Patty took her first and second newspaper jobs in the Texas Panhandle, and her third and fourth jobs in Memphis, Tenn, the fourth as general manager of a magazine that covered the 10 casinos operating in nearby Tunica, Miss. After enjoying a five-year tenure at Jackpot! Magazine, she took a job as a legal investigator for one of Memphis’s top criminal defense law firms.
While still living and working in Memphis, Patty and her then partner started their own award-winning GLBT news magazine, Family & Friends Magazine, which covered the Boot Heel of Missouri, all of Arkansas, the western half of Tennessee, all of Arkansas, all of Mississippi, the northern half of Alabama and Atlanta, Ga. The magazine enjoyed a 10-year run before ceasing publication when the economy took a down-turn. One section of the magazine she was responsible for was the literary review pages, which featured Patty’s reviews of literally hundreds of gay and lesbian titles.
An award-winning journalist and playwright for more than 30 years, Patty now resides west of Indianapolis with her partner of four years, two dogs and four cats. Their son lives in a small town about two hours away. She is presently working on her second novel. Her first book ia a time-period piece about gay and lesbian life in the Memphis gay bar scene.
